 Republication of one of Michael McAloran's early volumes of poetry. The texts are not so much fragmented (as they may seem at first glance) as striving to express something that is beyond normal language and doing so in tracer bursts of metaphor and imagery.

 In Unterzone, the equation Σ(LIFE + DEATH) = 0 functions as a foundational glyph—a recursive protocol inscribed across denizen interfaces, archival voids, and corrupted infrastructures. It encodes the principle of equilibrium through negation: every emergence (LIFE) is countered by a disappearance (DEATH), collapsing into zero. This zero is not absence but recursive potential, a site of reconfiguration. The glyph resists closure,  looping endlessly through system failure and speculative rebirth. It is both anti-notation and mythic checksum, verifying the Unterzone’s logic of collapse. To invoke it is to acknowledge that meaning spirals, never settles—always returning to the void that generates.
